DIY Foil Art Prints

DIY photo print

Get ready to DIY your very own Foil Prints. I love making foil prints, and Iโ€™m very excited to show you my method to the foil-madness.ย  You can use this technique on paper, cards, or stickers.

Laser Printer

The toner in laser printers is tiny black plastic granules.  The hot rollers in the printer melt the plastic granules into the paper.  To press the foil, we will heat the paper again so the toner melts into the foil. This is like a glue that the foil will stick to.  This technique will not work with inkjet printers!

The best printer to use for this process is a mono laser printer.

This is the laser printer I use.

Brother Compact Monochrome Laser Printer, HL-L2350DW, Wireless Printing, Duplex Two-Sided Printing, Amazon Dash Replenishment Ready. Click to view on Amazon.

If you do not have a laser printer, any local print shop can make copies for you.

Laminator

Once you have your piece printed, you are ready to foil.  All you need in a laminator, here is what I use, found on Amazon: Amazon Basics 9-Inch Thermal Laminator Machine

Foil Sheets

I like to use Deco Foil. You should use a good quality brand. I used foil from the WISH app that did not work very well.
